What Riot Client actually offers to find players
- Unified friends list: one friends list shared across League, Valorant, TFT and other Riot titles. Great for people you already know, useless for meeting anyone new.

Do I still need Riot Client?
Of course. Riot Client stays how you launch League of Legends and Valorant, manage your account and, now with Discord sync, keep up with people you already know. Does Riot Client have a teammate finder?
No. Riot Client centralizes your friends list, a social panel showing what friends are playing and Discord-synced party invites, but none of that surfaces a new compatible player by rank, role or schedule. It only works for people already on your friends list.
Can I duo queue at any rank in League of Legends and Valorant?
Not without limits. Both games restrict duo queue by rank gap, and Valorant tightens that hard at Immortal and Radiant, where you can only queue with players close to your own rating. League applies a similar gap-based restriction, and the exact rules around its very top tiers have shifted more than once across the 2026 season, so check the current patch notes before assuming a high-elo duo is legal. At every rank below that, a compatible partner near your rating is what actually gets you through the restriction.
