Delete Your GameVerse Account

How to delete your GameVerse account from the app, what is erased, what is kept and for how long, and how to cancel within 30 days.

This page explains how to delete your GameVerse account and your data, whether you use the desktop, Android or iOS app. GameVerse is published by GAMEVERSE (see the legal notice).

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open GameVerse and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings, then General.
  3. In the Danger zone section, press Delete account.
  4. Type your player name to confirm, then press Delete my account.

Your account is closed immediately: you are signed out on every device and cannot sign in again.

If you cannot open the app or sign in, send your request to contact@gameverse.app from the email address of your account. We may ask you to prove your identity before acting on it.

The 30-day waiting period

Deleting your own account opens a 30 day period during which you can change your mind. We send a confirmation email containing a link that cancels the deletion.

Once the deletion is cancelled your account is active again, and you have to sign in again. Once the 30 days are over, the deletion can no longer be stopped.

What is deleted

When the 30 days are over, every service that holds data about you erases or anonymises it. Your profile, your platform connections and the game libraries synced from them, your friend list, and the posts and comments you wrote in the community space are deleted outright. The notification tokens of your devices are deleted as well.

What is kept, and for how long

A few things cannot simply be deleted, because they also belong to someone else or exist to protect the community:

  • Messages you sent. Their text stays visible to their recipients, but the sender is shown as a deleted account and can no longer be traced back to you.
  • Evidence under an open report. If a moderation report concerning you is still open, the evidence is kept, with every identifier replaced, until the report is closed. It is then anonymised.
  • Records of a platform ban. If a gaming platform account you connected was banned, we keep a pseudonymised record of that ban, tied to the platform account rather than to you, for up to 730 days.
  • The fact that your account existed. We keep the identifier of your account, on its own, so that our systems never recreate a deleted account, including after a backup is restored.
  • Technical safeguards. Backups are kept for 30 days, technical logs for 30 days and performance traces for 14 days. Pseudonymised matchmaking exports used to train the teammate suggestion algorithm are kept for 180 days.
  • Usage statistics. They are not linked to your account, so they are not affected by its deletion. They are erased on their own 25 months after they were recorded.
