Child Safety Standards
GameVerse is a service for finding people to play with. It lets players build a profile, talk to each other and form teams. Any service that connects strangers carries a risk to minors, and we would rather state plainly what we forbid, what we do about it and how to reach us than leave it implied.
These standards apply to everything we operate: the GameVerse website, the desktop application and the mobile applications.
Zero tolerance
We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every form, and we prohibit child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in every form. This is not a matter of degree or context. It covers, without being limited to:
- Any sexual content involving a minor, real, drawn, generated or edited.
- Sexualising a minor, including in text, in a profile, in a username or in a conversation.
- Grooming: building a relationship with a minor with a view to sexual abuse, online or offline.
- Sextortion, and any threat to publish intimate content of a minor.
- Trafficking a minor, or soliciting, arranging or advertising sexual contact with one.
- Sharing, requesting or linking to CSAM, whatever the wording used to describe it.
Breaking these rules is not a warning-and-strike matter. An account confirmed to have engaged in CSAE is terminated permanently and is not eligible to return.
Minimum age
You must be at least 13 years old to use GameVerse, and if you are under 18 you must have the permission of a parent or guardian. Accounts we find to belong to someone below the minimum age are closed. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child is using the service, write to us at the address below and we will close the account.
How to report
In the application. Every profile and every message carries a report action. Choose the reason Child safety, which is the first in the list. You can add details, and the report reaches our moderation team directly. You do not need to be involved in the conversation to report it.
By email. Write to contact@gameverse.app with any evidence you can provide. Reports about child safety are handled ahead of everything else.
To the authorities. You do not have to go through us first, and in an emergency you should not. In France, report to PHAROS. In the United States, report to the NCMEC CyberTipline. If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
Please do not forward, download or re-share suspected CSAM in order to report it, including to us. Describing where it is, is enough, and possessing or transmitting that material is itself a criminal offence in most countries.
What we do with a report
Reports naming child safety are reviewed as a priority. When a report is confirmed we remove the content, terminate the account permanently, and preserve the associated records so that the competent authorities can act on them. We report confirmed cases to the competent authority: in France to PHAROS, and to the NCMEC CyberTipline where the circumstances or the applicable law make it the appropriate channel.
We cooperate with law enforcement requests that are properly founded in law, and we do not require a reporter to identify themselves publicly.
Compliance
GameVerse complies with the child safety laws applicable to it, in France and in every country where the service is available, and reports to the regional and national authorities as those laws require. Our Terms of Service prohibit unlawful content and conduct, and these standards set out how that prohibition is applied where minors are concerned.
